Round One 2018-19
The first competition of the year had four sections: Colour, Monochrome, Nature and the theme of smartphone photography – the latter could be any subject as long as it was taken on a phone.
Entries had to be digital rather than prints and we attracted an entry far larger than anticipated. Sadly a number of images had to be dropped to make the task of commenting on them more manageable. Even after doing this, our judge for the evening, Simon Hickie, still had over 100 photographs to critique.
Simon tackled this task admirably, offering many hints and tips on how to improve our images, that were appreciated by both beginners and advanced workers alike. Whittling the entries down to six in each category was certainly a tough job that had Simon struggling to place the final images in the top spots and we would like to publicly thank Simon for handling this mammoth assignment so well.
