Critique Evening

Keyworth Camera Club held a critique on September 30th. A good number of our members submitted images showing a broad variety of subject matter including landscapes, sport and wildlife to learn how their images could be improved.

Club member David Kissman led the critique and offered considered observations that took in sharpness, colour saturation, cropping, viewpoints and backgrounds. He also suggested different ways that the subject could have been approached.

David also asked the audience for their thoughts on some of the images, many of which agreed with David’s comments, but others put forward welcomed alternative views. One of the more in-depth discussions centred around the use of negative space – did it balance the image, and how to decide how much space complimented the subject.

There were many interesting remarks and suggestions on improving photographs that proved how subjective the viewing of pictures is. We are sure many of the ideas put forward will be taken on board by our members and tried when next venturing out with their cameras.

Thanks must be given to David for his terrific comments and for getting everyone involved in this excellent educational evening. It really was enjoyed by all.
