November Review 2024

Keyworth Camera Club’s November meetings began with ‘The Full Monty’ – not quite what you might think…! It was the title of a very interesting and comprehensive talk by photographer and graphic designer, Steven Fairbrother, referring to the full range of areas covered by his work: landscape; wildlife; architecture; still life and transport. It was great to learn about his techniques and hear some entertaining stories too.

Our second internal competition followed, with the many entries critiqued and assessed by external judge Roy Maddison who gave us many ideas for improving our work. The pictures accompanying this post are the category winners and you can see all the placed photographs by clicking this link: https://keyworthcameraclub.org.uk/round-two-2024-25

The second talk of the month was by Ian Pinn, an experienced local photographer who showed us the raw, desolate beauty of the Hebrides. Ian presented his striking images as prints whilst sharing his techniques and some history of the islands.

Our final meeting of the month was a fun night called Chair v Vice Chair. Images were shown and our chair person, Ken, and his vice chair, Bev, took turns in commenting on the photographs but were only allowed to make positive observations. The club members, split into small groups, then marked each picture from two to five based on their own thoughts and those of Ken and Bev. There were a few twists to some of the rounds, such as being able to ‘steal’ a picture or ask someone else in the club to comment on the image. This proved to be a fun night full of great pictures, remarks and laughter.
