September 2023 Review

September 7th saw the launch of our new season with an open night that drew in a number of new members (more than we expected, so a very warm welcome to them) to supplement our current membership. AVs of competition winners from last year were on show, along with an excellent showcase of the club’s work. Part of the night was a detailed run through of the coming programme.

On September 14th a lot of keen members turned up on the embankment by Trent Bridge for an outdoor practical taking images during the blue hour and beyond. The rain didn’t dampen their enthusiasm and the downpour added some great atmosphere to the many pictures taken.

Our third meeting on September 21st was a critique night and both new and old members submitted an excellent variety of images to be given the critical eye by club member David Kissman. His encouraging comments were well received by all.

September 28th was a workshop evening. Three very different areas of photography were covered by three of our members aimed at a variety of interests and levels. These talks covered exposure control, working in monochrome, and using Lightroom to get the best from your images.

The images accompanying this post are a very small selection of photographs from the critique evening, and as you’ll see one of these was taken during the September 14th practical evening.

We now look forward to October as we are sure it will be just as good as September and will inspire our members to get out and take even more photographs.
