April 2024 Review

On April 4th, KCC held one of its ever-popular critique nights. This time, we tried a new format. Members were divided into small groups of five or six per table, and they discussed projected images. After each photograph was shown, a spokesperson for each table voiced the opinions of their group on how the image could be improved. This proved to be a successful method for critiquing photographs, and we’ll definitely be trying this system again.

April 11th was the second leg of our annual interclub battle with Lincoln Camera Club, the first leg being held at Lincoln on April 9th. 30 pdi’s from each club were judged by Louise Langley at Lincoln and David Gibbins at Keyworth. The scores from both legs were added together for the final result which saw Keyworth emerge victorious with a total score of 1027, to Lincoln’s 960.

Paul Screen visited KCC on April 18th and gave us his talk Katmandu and Everest Base Camp Trek. Paul’s excellent photography captured the terrain that had to be tackled and the people he encountered whilst on his journey superbly. This was both an educational and inspiring presentation.

The sixth and final heat of our internal competition was held on April 25th. This was a pdi round which had the following sections: Colour, Monochrome, and the theme of Reflections. Our judge for the night was Ashley Franklin. The photographs that are accompanying this post are the section winners.
