January 2023 Update

The first meeting of 2023 took place on January 4th and this was a social night which was organized to celebrate Keyworth Camera Club 40th birthday. The existing membership were joined by past members for a quiz and a great selection of delicious food. A fun evening that was enjoyed by all. The photograph accompanying this post is from this night.

On January 12 actor Bill Ward (Coronation Street, Emmerdale and many other shows) who is also a very keen photographer visited our club in person to show us a superb selection of images featuring water. Bill’s images covered waterfalls to seascapes, urban canals to mountain streams and everything in between. Another very entertaining night full of excellent photography.

Throughout every year KCC holds a photo challenge. 22 of our members took part, and had to post a monochrome image each month to a private Flickr group. On January 19th the best of these images were shown in the club room. You can see some of these images by scrolling down this page a couple of posts to find a more detailed report on this evening.

January 26th saw KCC visited by local professional photographer Mike Beard who gave us a presentation called It All Started with Cod and Ships. This was an excellent talk that covered Mike’s 10 years in the Royal Navy as a photographer back in the 1970’s, and then followed his photography career to the present day. Many of Mike’s superb photographs featured places in Nottinghamshire and they gave our membership plenty of inspiration.
