March 2024 Review

March saw Keyworth Camera Club return to the hall after two months of Zoom meetings.

On the 7th we held the 5th round of our internal competition. This was for prints only and it had four categories; Colour, Monochrome, Nature, and the theme of Sacred Places and Places of Reverence. The competition brought in a good number of images across all sections and they were ably assessed by visiting judge Sue Wilson. The four images accompanying this post are the section winners and you can view all the placed photographs by following this link

March 14th saw four of our newer members give short presentations to a packed hall. The depth and breadth of subject matter was excellent and some of the photographs showed exciting experimentation in techniques to produce creative and eye-catching images. It certainly seems that we have four more rising stars to bolster our membership.

Erica Oram CPAGB, AFIAP, BPE3* visited us on March 21st and gave us a presentation called A Bit of This, That and The Other. Erica shared some images in a new talk that she had just completed. She stressed that they were not necessarily competition standard but they were simply images that she liked. In the first half we saw some of her candid street photography and she explained her technique for “shooting from the hip”. In the second half we were treated to some stunning landscapes shots mainly from her trips to the Outer Hebrides.

On March 28th we showed the pdi’s that had been accepted for the N&EMPF Exhibition 2024. It was great to see some of our members work among the superb selection of quality images on show. The inspirational value of this exhibition is second-to-none, and, as always, was a night not to be missed.
