May Review 2025

May was the final month of our 2024/25 season.

On the first Thursday of the month we were visited by speaker Graham Dunn who came to talk to us about architectural photography. He showed plenty of inspirational images whilst passing on many hints and tips about tackling this rewarding genre of photography.

The following week started with our own member Paul Burrows explaining his thought process in selecting images to submit to the P.A.G.B. to see if he could achieve their DPAGB distinction. Paul explained the rules and scores he’d need to achieve to be successful. Paul travelled to Scotland for judging day and experienced emotional turmoil as his photographs were marked. Had his set of images achieved a high enough score to gain the distinction? Congratulations from all at Keyworth C.C. to Paul Burrows DPAGB. We finished the evening by watching the second part of the N. & E.M.P.F. Print Exhibition 2025. More congratulations were given to our members who had been successful in having some of their photographs accepted into this prestigious exhibition.

Our next meeting was an outdoor event. Members of KCC visited Nottingham’s Highfield Park for an evening of photography. The lake offered an abundance of wildlife, the grounds filled with trees and plants and at the time of our visit the rhododendrons were a riot of colour. All this and more provided many great subjects to be photographed. As the light faded, we all headed to a nearby public house for refreshments and a lot of lively chat.

Next was our theme competition. Six themes of which members could enter four of their choice. Judge Richard Houghton offered some excellent commentary on our images as he scored each picture out of ten. Congratulations to Geoff Foster for taking the prize of overall winner. The six images accompanying this post are the photographs awarded first place in each of the themes (click on the to see who won what). The 29th of May was our end of season event. This began with an audio visual of all the placed images from each round of our internal competitions. Then our programme secretary, David Kissman, ran through next season’s programme in detail. Steve Myall followed this by showing the images used in the PAGB GB Cup Limited Eligibility competition and explained why they were chosen to represent the club. We were successful in winning this competition. Steve then presented a PAGB silver medal to both Paul Burrows and Gavin Brand for gaining selectors awards – scroll down this page to see more about that. After an extended break for drinks and cake (lots of cake) we finished off by presenting the KCC trophies to the winners of our various competitions. We now enter our summer break. It is hoped we will continue to meet at least once a month for a club outing during this time. Our new season will begin on September 4th 2025 in the Parochial Hall, Selby Lane, Keyworth, NG12 5AN at 7:30pm when speaker Gianpiero Ferrari will show us his exceptional photographs from the Galapagos and Rainforest of Ecuador. This is one not to be missed so add it to your diary now. More details about next seasons programme will appear on our website soon: https://keyworthcameraclub.org.uk/
