March Review 2025

March began with a Critique Evening, involving us working together to assess and offer ideas for improvements to images submitted by members. These evenings are always very useful and enjoyable, with a relaxed and chatty atmosphere – there doesn’t seem to be any shortage of opinion!

The following meeting gave us the opportunity to see the successful work of photographers in our region, including many from our club, in the pdi sections of this year’s N&EMPF Exhibition. It’s such an outstanding collection of excellent and imaginative images that we can’t help but be inspired to try new subjects, styles and techniques in our own work.

The third meeting of March was the fifth round of our internal competitions. The three sections, pdi colour, pdi nature, and monochrome print, were so well supported with a great range of entries that we had to reduce the number of photographs in one section so that our judge for the evening, Peter Jones ARPS DPAGB BPE3 LSINWP, had a chance of completing his task of selecting the top images before midnight. The three photographs accompanying this post are the section winners and you can view them and all the placed images by following this link: https://keyworthcameraclub.org.uk/round-five-2024-25

Our final meeting of the month was a fabulous talk given by Derek Doar. Derek showed us many prints of terrific quality that covered a variety of subject matter, although the emphasis was on landscapes. There were colour images, black and white, infra-red and panoramic prints that wowed our members in their beauty. Derek’s easy going presentation style was engaging and informative and his humorous observations of some of the situations he found himself in had us laughing out loud on many occasions. A night to remember for sure.
