My Photography – David Gibbins

On Thursday May 12th, Keyworth Camera Club hosted its final visiting speaker for the season. David Gibbins ARPS APAGB EFIAP/b BPE5 CPAGB/AV was that guest and he gave us a presentation simply titled My Photography.

David’s talk was split into two halves. The first taking us back to the days of slide film and bringing us up to the current day. There was a wide range of subjects on show, all photographed superbly. David also included four short audio-visual sequences that were educational, and in the case of the last one about life during lockdown, moving.

The second part of the evening featured photographs that had helped David gain his EFIAP/b. David showed how some of his more creative images came about, many starting life as pictures most of us would have binned but with a little thought they became eye-catching photographs. David also showed examples of work that he’d had accepted in Photo Travel sections of exhibitions – these images have to be unaltered.

Throughout the presentation David explained how he often looks for patterns to include in his pictures and this was clearly seen in many of the outstanding images he showed us.

Thank-you David, for entertaining us exceptionally well in an informative, calm and relaxed manner. Your commentary and excellent photography were extremely motivational and we are sure many of our members will be trying out some of your techniques very soon.
