Welcome Night and Treasure Hunt Results

Tonight saw the first Keyworth Camera Club meeting of the season with an internal themed competition via Zoom.

The Chairman welcomed everyone and thanked the committee team for their extra hard work in providing the additional summer programme of competitions, critiques, speakers, members workshops and external location shoots.

The competition was a treasure hunt. Members had been given ten subjects of which four would be randomly selected from each of the 15 entrants for our resident judge Steve Myall to peruse. The themes were a five bar gate, a pair of spectacles, a hay bale, a boat on river, a teddy bear, the front wheel of a bike, a piece of sporting equipment, a graveyard, a wind turbine and a swan or goose.

Steve embraced the rules and went into action and entertained the members with his knowledge and excellent interpretations, giving praise where it was due and providing tips, recommendations and edit suggestions to others. The format worked really well, with entrants not knowing which of their images had been selected.

It was a fun evening and sets us up for our excellent programme for the season ahead. It is worthy of note that a new member on his first competition entry gained a 3rd place, so well done to Pete Stoves. (We won’t mention that the Chairman and Treasurer took 1st & 2nd). The images accompanying this post show two from the winners set of four and one each from the second and third placed photographers.
